Class of ’72 – Patti Nutt, Stephen Nutt, Judy Becker and Howard Becker show their Gorilla Pride at the Grand Canyon.
Blue Gorilla- Steve Rother (‘72) didn’t have any Gorilla wear to display, but he assures us he was full of Gorilla pride when he met this Blue Gorilla, at Railyard Park in Santa Fe, N.M. The Blue Gorilla, made of recycled car doors, is 13 feet tall and weighs 900 lbs.
Desert Gorilla – Retired Army Major General, Jay Hood, (’75) and wife, Lynne, along with a camel friend, enjoy the desert life on the edge of The Arabian Peninsula’s “Empty Quarter,” while visiting the Qasr Al Sarab Resort in the United Arab Emirates.
Gorilla anniversary- Gorillas Doug and Rita Girth made sure to take their Gorilla pride with them to celebrate their 35th anniversary at Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Congratuations!
Gorillas love the beach- While not their native habitat, Gorillas love the beach, as demonstrated by Richard Bretches (BSBA, ‘68) and wife, Marla, on Coral Beach on Grand Bahama Island. Both are retired from State Farm Insurance.
Gorillas on vacation- St Louis is the home for the Gorilla family of Scott (BSET ’95) and Misi (BS ’94, MS ’95) Holmberg and son Gavin, who sent us this vacation pic from their vacation to Atlantis in Nassau, Bahamas. Scott works as a senior design engineer for Tacony Corp. and Misi works as a senior benefits manager for Panera Bread. Future Gorilla Gavin is in middle school.
At the Great Wall- Gorillas Cathy Lee Arcuino and Melinda Roelfs are great PSU ambassadors on China’s Great Wall.
Hawaiian Gorillas- If there’s a reason Gorillas Randy and Debbie Cook look relaxed, it’s because they’re in Maui, where they made sure they included some Pitt State attire with their beachwear.
In the Caribbean- Steven Barker (BA ‘09) and Shauna (Hillman) Barker (BSN ‘08) and son Caden show their Gorilla pride while on a family cruise to the Dominican Republic.
On the streets of London- John R. (BSED ’74, MS ’76, EdS ’82) and Dianna (BS ’74) Baker are proud Gorillas on the streets of London, where they went to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Congrats!
Royal Gorillas- Doug Eaton (BSBA ‘76); Jan Heck Eaton (BSEd ‘75); Kerri Vena Ptacek (MSEd ‘09); Linda Martin Vena (BSEd ‘75) and Mick Vena (BSEd ‘74; MSEd ‘76) met in Surprise, Ariz., over spring break to watch the defending American League Champion Kansas City Royals in action.
Gorillas in Haiti- Bill Simms (Class of ’60) and his wife, Betty, show their Gorilla pride in Labadee, Haiti. Bill recommends riding the Dragon’s Breath Flight Line, billed as the world’s longest zip line over water.
Following the Vikings- Hal (BS ’65, MS ’68, EdS ’83) and Karen Shute (BS ’67) may be the first Gorillas to follow the Voyage of the Vikings. They paused during their chilly voyage to show their Gorilla pride in the icy waters of Nanortalik, Greenland.
‘Ciao’ from Italy- Gorillas Jerry and Marilyn James and Glenda and Paul Uttley show their Gorilla pride near the Leaning Tower of Pisa. They visited Venice, Rome, Naples and Livorna in Italy as well as numerous sites in Greece, Turkey, France and Spain.
